Differences between arabica and robusta

Hello, I’m Prunella from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and today I’m going to tell you about the macro difference between Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica, Coffea Arabica, was discovered in 1753.
While Robusta, Coffea Canephora, was discovered and identified in 1895.
Arabica has a deep root system whereas Robusta has a shallow one.
Arabica has a flower which appears during the rainy season. While Robusta has a flower
that appears quite randomly.
Arabica has a cherry, the drupe, which if not picked once ripe, falls to the ground.
Whilst Robusta has a drupe which if not picked once ripe, stays on the branch.
The main difference between these two species is the caffeine amount.
Robusta has a coffee amount ranging from 0,8 to 1,4%. While Arabica has a much higher caffeine
amount which ranges from 1,7 to as much as 4%.
