Robusta

Common name for Canephora, botanical species in the Coffea genus of the Rubiacee family.

It is a species of coffee plant native to the Congo. It grows at an altitude of between 0 and 900 metres above sea level, including at high temperatures, and is particularly resistant to disease and parasites.
At a genetic level, it has 22 chromosomes, compared to the 44 chromosomes of the other most common species, Arabica.
It has a caffeine level of 1.8-3.5%, significantly higher than Arabica.

Extractions produced using this species tend to be characterised by an intense body, greater bitterness compared to Arabica, and aromas ranging from cocoa to spices
