Hi, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video, I’m going to show you how to do a daily clean of your steam wand.

We fill up a container, in this case, I’m using a milk jug with about a 1-litre capacity, with half a litre of cold water. Now I’m using a specific product, in this case 25 ml, and I switch the steam wand on and off. Every time I turn the steam wand off, due to the thermosiphon principle, the wand will draw the product into the channels, cleaning and dislodging any milk particles that may have accumulated while it was in use. So, I do this 6/7 times until the water gets close to boiling temperature.

As the water temperature slowly increases, the noise becomes louder. When we are close to the boiling point, we remove the container and dispose of its contents. and pour in about 1 litre of cold water again. We repeat the process without detergent to rinse. We do the same thing: we switch the wand on and off 6/7 times.

In doing so, the water rinses away any residual product inside the steam wand. Then with the help of our cloth, we clean and flush out any residue from the steam wand.

And voilà, the steam wand is ready to be used again.
