Incorrect milk frothing

Hi, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video, I’ll show you what happens when you position the steam wand incorrectly.

Let’s purge the wand. Now let’s see what happens when we don’t immerse the steam wand in the milk correctly. Perhaps we’re too close to the surface of the milk. Usually, the correct thing to do is to place the tip of the wand about 1 cm below the milk level: if we hold it too close to the surface, uneven bubbles form. You’ll also hear the loud noise of the air entering the milk: very large bubbles will form on the milk surface and so it will froth unevenly, and the resulting cappuccino or latte will not be of the calibre we’re aiming for.
