Eureka Olympus burr replacement

Hi, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video, I’m going to show you how to replace the burrs.

Let’s replace the grinder’s burrs: In this case, it’s a Eureka Olympus. We loosen the screw that secures the hopper to the grinder, we remove the hopper and unscrew the screw completely. We remove the dial and at this point we have three screws that secure the upper burr and which we remove with a Phillips head screwdriver (take care not to lose the screws).

At this point, we have two burrs: the upper burr and the one attached to the motor. We clean the grinding chamber. We disassemble the lower burr: we hold the grinder’s drive shaft steady and loosen the three screws that secure the burr. We remove the last screw, we remove the burr and we clean the grinding chamber. We unscrew the upper burr (often coffee is deposited inside the screws). We also remove the other burr. We vacuum. We remove all coffee powder residue thoroughly.

Once the inside of the grinding chamber and the upper burr have been cleaned, we replace the burrs. In this case, on this type of grinder, we can put either of the two burrs in the grinding chamber and the other in the upper burr holder, there’s no difference. We take care to align well. We’ve secured the upper burr.

Now we insert the lower burr into the grinding chamber and we tighten the screws without too much force (you don’t need to over-tighten the three screws). At this point, we reinsert the upper burr holder remembering that, this will then support and secure the hopper, it will be placed in this position, and we reinsert the three screws that secure the upper burr to the grinding unit. We tighten with the Phillips head screwdriver.

At this point, we reinsert the dial, put the screw back in, which then secures the hopper, reinsert the hopper, and the grinder is ready to be reconnected to the power supply. If switched on, we can insert coffee and adjust the grind. If, for example, we have a double dose, with 16 g of coffee, in a given time (in this case 25 seconds), the grind will give twice the amount of liquid compared to the ground coffee.
